Messaging
ScentSell includes a built-in real-time messaging system for buyers and sellers to communicate directly — without sharing personal contact details.
How it works
Messages are private, one-to-one conversations between a buyer and seller attached to a specific listing or order. They are delivered in real time and stored in your ScentSell account.
Access your conversations from:
- The Messages icon in the header navigation (badge shows unread count)
- Any listing page → Message seller button
- Your Dashboard → any order → View messages
Message retention
Conversations are retained for the lifetime of your account. If an order is archived, the message thread remains accessible in your Messages inbox.
Privacy
ScentSell staff can access message threads for the purpose of dispute resolution and community safety enforcement. Messages should not contain personal contact details such as email addresses or phone numbers — sharing these to bypass the platform violates our Terms of Service.
Notification settings
You can control how you're notified about new messages:
- Push notification — immediate notification to your browser or app
- Email — summary email for each new message
