What is MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standard that lets AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT connect directly to external services — like your ScentSell account. With ScentSell's MCP server, your AI assistant can read your collection, log wears, and fetch your stats on your behalf.

ScentSell's MCP server is a world-first — the first fragrance-specific MCP server anywhere. No equivalent exists at Fragrantica, Parfumo, or Basenotes.

What you'll learn

  • What MCP is, in plain English
  • Why it's useful for fragrance enthusiasts
  • What's required to use it

Plain-English explanation

Without MCP, if you want to log a wear, you open the ScentSell app, find the fragrance, and tap a few buttons.

With MCP, you just say to your AI assistant:

"I wore Aventus today, 4 sprays, work occasion, hot day"

And your AI — whether that's Claude in Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, or another compatible tool — calls ScentSell's MCP server and logs the wear automatically. No app-switching. No tapping around.

Why fragrance enthusiasts love it

  1. Voice logging while getting ready — Describe your wear out loud while you're in front of the mirror. Your AI handles the rest.
  2. Natural language queries — Ask "what have I worn most in the last month?" and get a real answer from your data.
  3. Notes on the go — "Add a note to today's Aventus wear: the sillage was incredible in the heat"
  4. Conversation-based discovery — "I'm going to a formal dinner tonight, what's in my collection that fits?"

Requirements

  • ScentSell Premium subscription — MCP access is a Premium feature.
  • An MCP-compatible AI client — Claude Desktop, ChatGPT (custom GPT or native), Gemini, Cursor, Windsurf, and many others.
