Making an offer
If a seller has enabled offers on their listing, you can negotiate the price before committing to buy. ScentSell supports unlimited counter-offers between buyer and seller.
What you'll learn
- How to make an offer on a listing
- How counter-offers work
- What happens when an offer is accepted
How to make an offer
- Find a listing with the Make an offer button (listings without this button are fixed-price only).
- Tap Make an offer and enter the amount you'd like to pay (in AUD).
- Optionally add a short message to the seller (e.g. "Happy to pay $180 — can ship quickly").
- Tap Submit offer.
The seller will be notified of your offer via push notification and email.
Offer statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Offer made | Your offer has been sent, waiting on the seller |
| Counter-offer | The seller has proposed a different price |
| Accepted | Offer accepted — proceed to checkout |
| Declined | The seller has declined your offer |
| Expired | The offer expired without a response (typically 48 hours) |
Counter-offers
If the seller counters, you'll be notified. You can:
- Accept the counter (proceed to checkout at the counter price)
- Counter again with a new amount
- Decline and walk away
There's no limit on the number of rounds of negotiation. Offers are binding once accepted — both parties are expected to follow through.
Once you accept an offer (or the seller accepts yours), you'll be taken to checkout. If you don't complete payment within a reasonable time, the seller may cancel the offer.
Can I make offers on multiple listings?
Yes. You can have active offers on multiple listings simultaneously. Keep in mind that accepting an offer commits you to purchase — only make offers you intend to follow through on.
