Payment methods

ScentSell uses Stripe for all payments. Stripe supports a wide range of payment methods and handles all transaction security.

You don't need an account to buy​

You can buy a bottle without signing up. Press Buy now, tell us where to send your receipt, and you go straight to payment. No password, no confirmation email to wait for.

We use that email address to send your receipt, your postage updates and your tracking number, so use one you actually read.

Already have a ScentSell account? Type the same email you signed up with and your order lands in your account as normal, or press Sign in in that box to use your saved details. Either way works.

Two things still need you to be signed in, because they need to know who you are: making an offer on a bottle, and messaging a seller.

Accepted payment methods​

At checkout, Stripe supports:

  • Visa and Mastercard (credit and debit)
  • American Express
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay (on supported devices)

PayPal and bank transfers are not supported. All payments must go through Stripe Checkout to ensure buyer and seller protection.

Is my payment information secure?​

Yes. ScentSell never stores your card details. All payment information is handled directly by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified — the highest level of payment security certification.

What happens when I pay?​

When you complete checkout:

  1. Stripe instantly splits the payment. 85% goes to the seller's Stripe Connect account. 15% is retained by ScentSell as commission.
  2. You receive a confirmation email from Stripe with a receipt.
  3. The seller is notified and expected to ship within 3 business days.

Shipping costs​

The shipping fee appears as a separate line at checkout. You'll see Item + Shipping = Total before paying. Most listings ship via AusPost Parcel Post ($12) or Express Post ($18). Free-shipping listings are clearly marked with a Free shipping badge on the listing page and at checkout. The shipping fee is paid to the seller along with the item price, minus ScentSell's 15% commission.

All prices are in AUD​

ScentSell is an Australian marketplace. All prices are in Australian Dollars (AUD). There are no currency conversion fees.

Refunds​

Refunds are issued through Stripe. If a dispute is resolved in your favour, Stripe reverses the transaction. Refunds typically appear in your account within 5–10 business days depending on your bank.
