Australian-only marketplace
ScentSell is exclusively for buyers and sellers based in Australia. This is by design — it keeps shipping times predictable, supports Australian consumer law protections, and ensures our fraud prevention systems work effectively.
What you'll learn
- Why ScentSell is Australia-only
- What this means for buyers and sellers
- How international fragrances are handled in listings
Why Australia only?
- Shipping reliability — Domestic shipping via Australia Post and Shippit means parcels arrive within expected timeframes. International shipping introduces customs delays, higher costs, and more disputes.
- Consumer protection — Australian Consumer Law (ACL) applies to all transactions, giving both parties clear rights and obligations.
- Payment compliance — Stripe Connect for Australian businesses has specific requirements that ensure sellers are verified Australian residents.
What does "Australia only" mean in practice?
- Your account address must be an Australian address. This is verified during Stripe Connect onboarding.
- Shipping is within Australia only. Listings don't support international shipping destinations.
- Payments are in Australian Dollars (AUD).
Can I list a fragrance that's not available in Australia?
Yes. Many sellers list fragrances that aren't sold by Australian retailers — niche houses, limited editions, or items only available internationally. When listing, you can toggle "Not available in AU" to indicate this.
When this toggle is on:
- The valuation system uses the full international retail price (no second-hand reduction)
- An additional $15.00 AUD is added for shipping costs
- The retailer selector switches to international retailers (Harrods, Nordstrom, etc.)
This means international-exclusive fragrances often hold more value on ScentSell than their AU-available counterparts.
