What is ScentSell?

ScentSell is Australia's dedicated marketplace for buying and selling pre-owned fragrances. Whether you're a collector with bottles you no longer reach for, or a fragrance lover hunting for a discontinued gem, ScentSell connects you with a community that shares your passion.

Built by a fragrance lover​

I'm Justin — a fragrance lover who happens to be a developer. ScentSell is the app I wanted to exist, so I built it. My wife Bec and I are both all over the socials for it. Not a faceless platform. Two real people using our own app, talking about fragrances we actually love.

I built it because I was tired of Facebook groups full of fakes, eBay gambles, and ghost sellers. ScentSell is what I wished existed — verified humans, admin-reviewed listings, proper valuations, and no con artists. Turn up as one, you don't last — you get booted.

How it works​

ScentSell is a peer-to-peer marketplace with a few key differences from general platforms like eBay or Facebook Marketplace:

  1. Fragrance-specific — Every listing is tied to our database of 75,000+ verified fragrances, so buyers know exactly what they're getting.
  2. Automated valuation — Our pricing engine calculates a fair market value based on current Australian retail prices, fill level, condition, and rarity. No guesswork.
  3. Verified sellers — All sellers are verified with identity checks and must connect a Stripe payment account before they can list.
  4. Secure payments — Payment is processed securely at checkout through Stripe Connect. The seller receives their payout (minus the platform fee) via their verified Stripe account.
  5. Dispute protection — If something goes wrong, raise a dispute and our team investigates.

What is the Scent Sell Shop?​

Alongside the peer-to-peer marketplace, ScentSell also runs its own decant shop. Our team decants popular and niche fragrances into 2ml, 5ml, and 10ml vials — perfect for trying a scent before committing to a full bottle.

What is My Cabinet?​

My Cabinet is your personal fragrance wardrobe inside the app, launched in its current hub form on 2026-04-20. It's got seven sub-tabs — Dashboard, Wear log, Bottles, Shelves, Wish list, Shares, Reports — all under one bottom-nav tab. Track every bottle you own, log what you wear each day (weather auto-stamps from your saved postcode), curate themed shelves like a Summer Top 10, maintain a wishlist, and generate beautiful shareable cards of your collection. Premium subscribers can connect their cabinet to AI assistants like Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, Gemini, or Grok via MCP for voice-powered logging, curation, and querying across 62 tools.
