Verifying your account
ScentSell uses identity verification to keep the marketplace safe and ensure sellers can receive payments. This process is handled securely through Stripe.

When is verification required?
Buying — No identity verification required. You can browse and purchase straight away.
Selling — You must complete verification before you can publish a listing. This involves:
- Completing your ScentSell profile (display name, location)
- Connecting a Stripe account (required to receive payment)
How to verify for selling
- Go to your Dashboard and tap Become a seller (or navigate to Sell → Get started).
- You'll be directed to Stripe Connect onboarding. This is Stripe's secure identity and bank account verification process.
- Stripe will ask for:
- Your full legal name
- Date of birth
- Australian residential address
- Mobile number
- Bank account details (for receiving payouts)
- Stripe may also request a photo ID (driver's licence or passport) depending on your account activity.
- Once Stripe approves your account, you're cleared to list.
ScentSell does not store your financial or identity documents. All sensitive data is handled directly by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified.
How long does verification take?
Stripe's automated checks usually complete within a few minutes. In some cases, Stripe may request additional documents, which can take 1–2 business days to review.
What if I'm not in Australia?
ScentSell is an Australian-only marketplace. Both buyers and sellers must be based in Australia. See Australian-only marketplace for details.
