Verifying your account

ScentSell uses identity verification to keep the marketplace safe and ensure sellers can receive payments. This process is handled securely through Stripe.

When is verification required?

Buying — No identity verification required. You can browse and purchase straight away.

Selling — You must complete verification before you can publish a listing. This involves:

  1. Completing your ScentSell profile (display name, location)
  2. Connecting a Stripe account (required to receive payment)

How to verify for selling

  1. Go to your Dashboard and tap Become a seller (or navigate to Sell → Get started).
  2. You'll be directed to Stripe Connect onboarding. This is Stripe's secure identity and bank account verification process.
  3. Stripe will ask for:
    • Your full legal name
    • Date of birth
    • Australian residential address
    • Mobile number
    • Bank account details (for receiving payouts)
  4. Stripe may also request a photo ID (driver's licence or passport) depending on your account activity.
  5. Once Stripe approves your account, you're cleared to list.

ScentSell does not store your financial or identity documents. All sensitive data is handled directly by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified.

How long does verification take?

Stripe's automated checks usually complete within a few minutes. In some cases, Stripe may request additional documents, which can take 1–2 business days to review.

What if I'm not in Australia?

ScentSell is an Australian-only marketplace. Both buyers and sellers must be based in Australia. See Australian-only marketplace for details.
