General

Is ScentSell free to use?

Browsing and buying on ScentSell is completely free. Sellers pay a 15% commission on completed sales. My Collection has a free tier with limits — see Free tier limits.

Is ScentSell Australia only?

Yes. ScentSell operates exclusively within Australia. Both buyers and sellers must be based in Australia. See Australian-only marketplace.

Can I sell international fragrances on ScentSell?

Yes, you can sell fragrances that are not available in Australia — they just need to be shipped from within Australia. Toggle "Not available in AU" on the listing form. The valuation system will use full retail price + $15 shipping in the calculation.


Buying

Is it safe to buy on ScentSell?

Yes. All sellers are verified through Stripe identity checks. Payments are processed by Stripe. If something goes wrong, you can raise a dispute and our team investigates.

How long does shipping take?

Sellers are expected to ship within 3 business days. Delivery typically takes 2–7 business days depending on the carrier and your location.

What if my fragrance isn't as described?

Raise a dispute from My Orders before confirming receipt. Our team will investigate and may issue a refund if the item is significantly not as described.

When do I get my money back if a dispute goes my way?

Refunds are processed through Stripe. They typically appear in your account within 5–10 business days depending on your bank.


Selling

When do I get paid?

You are paid at checkout when the buyer completes payment. This is the most important thing to understand about selling on ScentSell. Stripe Connect destination charges split the payment instantly — you don't wait for delivery or order completion. See Payouts.

Why does my order say "completed" but I still see "Sale complete"?

"Sale complete" is an order status notification — it means the order lifecycle is closed. It does not mean money was just sent. Your money arrived in your Stripe account when the buyer paid. Check your Stripe Dashboard for your balance.

Can I sell without completing Stripe verification?

No. You must have a connected Stripe account before you can publish a listing. See Stripe Connect onboarding.

How long does listing approval take?

Usually a few hours during business hours (AEST). Listings submitted on weekends may wait until the next business day.

Can I relist a fragrance I bought on ScentSell?

Yes. You can list any fragrance you own. If you bought it on ScentSell and added it to your collection, it will auto-populate some listing details.


My Collection

Is My Collection free?

Yes — with limits. Free accounts can track 25 items, log 50 wears/month, and add 20 photos/month. See Free tier limits.

What happens to my collection if I cancel Premium?

Your data is preserved. You just can't add new items once you're above the free tier limits.

Can I export my wear history?

Yes — Premium subscribers can export as CSV from My Collection → Stats → Export data.


AI & MCP

What is MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) lets AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT connect to your ScentSell account and perform actions like logging wears. See What is MCP?.

Is MCP included in the free tier?

No. MCP access requires a Premium subscription.

Which AI clients support MCP?

Claude Desktop works best. Cursor and Windsurf also work. ChatGPT native support is coming soon. See Connect Claude Desktop.
