Adding by photo (AI vision)

Can't remember the exact name of a fragrance? Take a photo and let our AI identify it for you.

How it works​

  1. Go to My Collection → tap + Add fragrance.
  2. Select Add by photo.
  3. Take a photo (or upload one from your gallery) of the fragrance bottle.
  4. Our AI (GPT-4o Vision) analyses the label, bottle shape, and branding.
  5. You'll see the top match with a confidence score.
  6. Review the result and tap Confirm to add it, or Search instead to find it manually.

Getting the best results​

  • Photograph the label — Front-on with the brand name and fragrance name clearly visible.
  • Good lighting — Natural daylight or a bright room. Avoid harsh shadows across the label.
  • Clean lens — A smudged lens leads to blurry text.
  • Avoid reflections — Glass bottles are reflective. A slight angle can help avoid direct glare on the label.

Confidence thresholds​

The AI returns a confidence score for its match. If confidence is below our threshold:

  • You'll see the best guess with a "low confidence" warning
  • You'll be prompted to confirm or search manually instead

This prevents incorrect matches from silently entering your collection.

Photo add uses AI vision and isn't perfect. Unusual or rare fragrances with minimal label text may not match well. If the AI gets it wrong, use manual search instead.

Free tier limit​

Photo adds are limited to 20 per month on the free tier. Premium subscribers have unlimited photo adds. See Free tier limits.
