Compliments and share cards

Compliments are part of your wear history. If someone notices what you're wearing, log it against the bottle or the exact wear. Over time, SniffBot can see which fragrances get noticed, who notices them, and what context they work in.

Log a compliment from a bottle​

  1. Open My Collection → Bottles.
  2. Tap the small sparkle button on the bottle row.
  3. Choose who noticed it: partner, colleague, stranger, friend, family, barista, or unspecified.
  4. Optionally add what they said.
  5. Save.

If you wore that bottle on the same day, ScentSell links the compliment to the closest same-day wear automatically.

Log a compliment from a wear​

  1. Open My Collection → Wear log.
  2. Open the wear detail.
  3. Tap the sparkle button in the Compliments section.
  4. Save one or more compliments.

A single wear can have multiple compliments. For example, one from a colleague at work and another from your partner later that night.

Log a compliment through MCP​

With ScentSell MCP connected, you can say things like:

Someone complimented Corfu this morning. They said I smelled fresh and clean.

or:

Add a compliment to today's Corfu wear. Source was partner. Quote: you smell amazing.

If the AI knows the wear_log_id, it can attach the compliment directly. If not, ScentSell will try to link it to the closest same-day wear for that bottle.

Share a compliment card​

Compliment cards are branded ScentSell PNGs that say Someone noticed and show:

  • the fragrance
  • who noticed it
  • the quote, if you saved one
  • the wear context, if linked to a wear

From the app, tap Share card on a compliment. On iPhone and Android, ScentSell uses the native share sheet when the browser supports image sharing. From there you can save to Photos, send to Messages, or share to social apps.

If native image sharing is not available, ScentSell falls back to downloading the PNG or copying the card link. The card itself is still generated from your real wear/compliment data.

Can MCP save the PNG to my Photos app?​

No. MCP can create the compliment record and return a share-card link, but it cannot silently save a file into your phone's Photos app. iOS and Android require you to approve that through the native share sheet or the browser's save image flow.

Best flow:

  1. Ask your AI client to log the compliment.
  2. Open the returned share-card link, or open the compliment in ScentSell.
  3. Tap Share card.
  4. Choose Save Image, Messages, Instagram, or another app from your phone's share sheet.

How SniffBot uses compliments​

Compliments are a strong positive signal. SniffBot uses them alongside your ratings, wear history, weather, and recent rotation.

What gets me the most compliments?

What should I wear today if I want something noticeable but not loud?

Which fragrance does my partner seem to like most?

Compliments do not replace ratings. Ratings tell SniffBot what you liked. Compliments tell it what other people noticed.
