Logging a wear

Recording what you wore is the heart of My Cabinet. A wear log tracks not just which fragrance you reached for, but the full context — time of day, weather, occasion, layering, rating — that makes fragrance memories meaningful AND lets SniffBot find patterns in your taste later.

What you'll learn

  • How to log a wear in the app, via voice, or via MCP
  • Every context field now captured (and which ones auto-stamp)
  • How wear context feeds SniffBot correlations

Logging from the Cabinet

The fastest way to log a wear:

  1. Open My Cabinet (bottom-nav on mobile, menu on desktop) → Bottles.
  2. Tap the bottle you're wearing, then tap the big Log wear button. Or hit the floating + Log wear FAB (mobile only) to pick from a shortlist.
  3. Adjust sprays (default 4), occasion, time of day, rating, notes.
  4. Tap Save. Remaining ml is automatically decremented.

What gets recorded

FieldNotes
sprays_countDefaults to 4. Drives the ml-decrement.
time_of_daymorning, day, evening, night, all_day. If you leave it blank, ScentSell derives it from your saved timezone.
occasioncasual, work, date_night, event, sport, sample_test, etc.
weather_temp_c + weather_conditionAuto-stamped at save time from your saved postcode/city via OpenWeather. You can override if you're travelling. Non-fatal if the weather API is unreachable.
rating0–10, optional — decimals are supported, e.g. 7.75.
notesFree-form — sillage, drydown, how it felt. Use the compliment flow for compliments so SniffBot can count them.
layered_withOther cabinet items you layered this with (normalised in wear_log_items).
worn_atDefaults to now. Set a past timestamp for backlog entries.

Voice logging via MCP (Premium)

Connect Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, or any MCP-compatible AI to https://mcp.scentsell.com.au/api/mcp. Then:

"I wore Aventus tonight for date night, 4 sprays, felt like nailed it"

The AI calls the log_wear tool for you. Weather auto-stamps from your saved location. See Connect Claude Desktop.

Why the context matters

SniffBot reads every wear row — time of day, occasion, weather, layering. That's how it can answer:

"What do I actually reach for on humid evenings?"

"Which layering I've done got rated highest?"

"Which fragrance gets worn with a date_night occasion most?"

If the context fields are empty, the answer is a guess. If they're filled in, it's grounded in your own data.

Compliments

If someone notices what you're wearing, log it as a compliment rather than only as a note. Compliments can link to the exact wear, or to the closest same-day wear for that bottle if you log the compliment later.

Examples:

"Someone complimented Corfu this morning. They said it smelled fresh and clean."

"Add a compliment to today's Corfu wear. Source was partner."

See Compliments and share cards.

Backdating a wear

If you forgot to log at the time:

  1. On the log screen, tap the date field.
  2. Pick the actual date (and time, if you know it).
  3. Save normally. Weather is still auto-stamped for that historical date if the weather API supports it; otherwise the fields stay null.
