Shared cabinets

Shared cabinets let household partners view or share each other's fragrance cabinets without mixing up wear logs, ratings, shelves, or SniffBot taste profiles.

Two modes — choose at invite time​

When you invite a partner, ScentSell asks how you want to share. You pick one of two modes on the invite form:

Visibility​

Two cabinets. They can view what I share but can't edit. Wears and shelves stay separate.

Best for housemates, family, or any partner where you each want your own cabinet. You decide per share whether they can see your cabinet, wear logs, shelves, and wishlist.

Joint cabinet​

One shared bottle pool. We both add, edit, and see each other's wears, wishlist, shelves, ratings. Made for married/bonded couples.

Best for married or bonded couples who own bottles together. Bottles are a single shared pool — either of you can add, edit, sell or archive any of them. Ratings, wears, and shelves still stay per-person on the shared bottle, because two people experience the same fragrance differently.

You can change a share's mode later from Settings → Cabinet shares. The share owner can promote a Visibility share to Joint; either partner can downgrade Joint back to Visibility.

Invite a partner​

  1. Open My Collection → Shared with me.
  2. Tap Manage shares.
  3. Choose Visibility or Joint cabinet at the top of the form.
  4. Enter their email and an optional label (for example "my wife").
  5. If you picked Visibility, choose what they can view (cabinet, wear logs, shelves, wishlist). Joint shares everything by default.
  6. Send the invite.

They accept the invite from their own ScentSell account.

View a partner's cabinet​

When someone shares with you, open Shared with me. In Visibility mode their bottles are read-only until you claim or copy them. In Joint mode you both see the same bottle pool and either of you can edit it.

Claim one bottle (Visibility mode)​

Tap Claim to mine on a bottle. ScentSell creates your own cabinet row linked back to theirs. Your wear logs, ratings, shelves, and notes stay separate.

Copy the whole shared cabinet (Visibility mode)​

Tap Copy cabinet to mine to import every bottle they have shared with you. ScentSell skips bottles you already have and creates independent cabinet rows for the rest.

Copied bottles keep provenance:

  • cloned_from_user_id
  • cloned_from_item_id

But everything personal is yours:

  • ratings
  • wear logs
  • compliments
  • notes
  • shelves
  • wishlist
  • SniffBot taste profile

Why this matters​

Couples and households often share the same physical bottles, but each person has different taste, skin chemistry, contexts, ratings, and compliments. Shared cabinets let you start from the same bottle list without collapsing two people into one profile — and Joint mode lets you stop maintaining two copies when you're truly sharing the shelf.
