Tracking remaining ml
ScentSell automatically decrements your bottle's remaining volume each time you log a wear. Here's how it works.
What you'll learn
- How ml tracking works
- How spray volume is estimated
- How to correct an inaccurate reading
How it works
When you log a wear and specify the number of sprays, ScentSell calculates:
volume used = sprays × ml_per_spray
remaining_ml = current_remaining_ml − volume_used
The default assumption is 4 sprays per wear if you don't specify.
ml per spray estimates
Spray volume varies between bottles, but common estimates are:
| Bottle type | Approx. ml per spray |
|---|---|
| Standard EDP spray | ~0.12–0.15ml |
| Fine-mist decant atomiser | ~0.08–0.10ml |
| Travel spray | ~0.08–0.10ml |
ScentSell uses a default of 0.12ml per spray. This is an approximation — real volumes vary.
Setting an initial fill
When you add a fragrance, set the fill percentage as accurately as you can. ScentSell calculates the initial remaining ml from:
remaining_ml = bottle_size_ml × (fill_pct / 100)
For example: a 100ml bottle at 75% fill = 75ml remaining.
Correcting the reading
If your remaining ml drifts from reality (e.g. you added more sprays than logged, or the initial estimate was off), you can manually correct it:
- Open the item in My Collection.
- Tap Edit.
- Adjust the Remaining ml field directly.
- Save.
Some fragrance enthusiasts do a "weigh and track" method — weigh the bottle with a jewellery scale to calculate exact ml remaining. If you do this, update your remaining ml manually for accuracy.
