Boosting a listing

A boost pays to put your listing back in front of people. It is the classifieds model — you pay up front, and it is entirely optional.

What you'll learn

  • The three boosts and what each does
  • What a boost does not do
  • When a boost is worth it, and when it is not
  • What happens when your item sells

The three boosts

BoostPriceLastsWhat it does
BumpA$2.99InstantJumps your listing back to the top of the feed
SpotlightA$9.997 daysTop of the marketplace and in the Boosted strip with a copper pill
ProA$19.997 daysA reserved top spot that never rotates, plus we post your listing to ScentSell's socials

You buy a boost from your listing. Payment is up front, once, by card.

What a boost does not do

  • It does not change your commission. ScentSell takes 15% when an item sells, boosted or not.
  • It does not affect the "Newest" ordering. That stays genuine — boosts appear in their own clearly labelled strip.
  • It is never disguised. A boosted listing carries a copper "Boosted" chip. Buyers can always tell.
  • It does not fix a listing. If the photos are thin or there is no description, a boost buys you more people seeing the same problem.

When a boost is worth it

Worth it:

  • Your listing is good — clear photos, fill level shown, a real description — and has simply drifted down the feed
  • You have just dropped the price and want the people who saw the old price to see the new one
  • Your item is seasonal and you want it in front of people now

Not worth it yet:

  • The listing has no description. Fix that first, it is free
  • The photos do not show the fill level
  • It is priced well above the valuation suggestion
  • It is over A$400 with no history — see Listing something expensive

A boost multiplies the listing you have. It is worth spending ten minutes on the listing before spending money on the boost.

When your item sells

The boost ends automatically the moment your listing leaves the marketplace — sold, removed or expired. A paid slot is never left pointing at something nobody can buy.

If you have paid for seven days and it sells on day two, the remaining days are not refunded. That is the trade with a fixed-price promotion.

Free things to try first

Every one of these costs nothing and tends to do more than a bump:

  1. Share the listing yourself — see Sharing your listing. Tag @scentsellsocials and we may repost it.
  2. Add or improve the description.
  3. Photograph the batch code, especially above A$400.
  4. Reconsider the price — see Dropping your price.
