Listing a fragrance
Creating a listing on ScentSell takes about 5 minutes. Our system guides you through each step and suggests a fair price based on current market data.

Before you start
You must have a connected Stripe account to publish a listing. If you haven't done this yet, see Stripe Connect onboarding.
Steps

Go to your Dashboard and tap + New listing (or navigate to Sell → Create listing).

Search for your fragrance. Type the name or brand in the search box. Our database of 75,000+ fragrances will suggest matches. Select the correct one to auto-fill details like concentration, notes, and accords.
If your fragrance isn't in our database, you can enter the details manually.

Set the condition. Choose from:
- Mint — Unused or essentially unused, no signs of wear
- Good — Light use, bottle in great shape
- Fair — Moderate use, minor cosmetic imperfections
- Heavily used — Significant use, may have scratches or dents

Set the fill level. Drag the slider or type the estimated percentage remaining.

Upload photos. At least 3 photos are recommended. See Photo requirements.

Add pricing information. Enter the current retail price from an Australian retailer — the system calculates a suggested price. You can accept the suggestion or toggle "Set my own price" to enter a custom amount.

Choose offer settings. Toggle on "Accept offers" if you're happy to negotiate.

Submit for review. Every listing goes through admin approval before going live. This usually takes a few hours during business days.
Listing statuses

All new listings from non-admin accounts go to pending review first. This is enforced at the database level and cannot be bypassed. See Listing approval.
One live listing per bottle
You can only have one live listing at a time for the same fragrance in the same size. If you try to list a bottle you already have up, we'll tell you which listing it is, what you're asking for it and when it went up, and offer to open it so you can update that one instead.
This is deliberate. Two live listings for the same bottle split your own buyers across two prices, and the cheaper one undercuts you.
What this does not stop:
- Other people listing the same fragrance. If someone else is selling the same bottle, both listings stay up. That's the marketplace.
- Different sizes. A 15ml decant and a 100ml bottle of the same fragrance are two different things to sell, and both can be live.
- Drafts. You can draft a replacement listing while the old one is still up, then retire the old one when you're ready.
- Listing the next one after a sale. Once a bottle sells, you're free to list another of the same.
If you genuinely own two identical bottles in the same size, list one now and the second once the first sells — or put them up as a bundle.
Bulk buy only
On a lower-priced bottle, postage and commission can eat most of what you make. A $25 bottle with $12 postage costs the buyer about $37, and you still pack it, label it and queue at the post office exactly like a $300 bottle.
Bulk buy only lets you say that bottle doesn't go out on its own. It stays on the marketplace, clearly labelled Bulk buy only · 2+, and buyers add it to a bundle of two or more of your bottles. One parcel, one postage, which is what makes the cheap end worth selling at all.
How to switch it on: in the listing form, open Selling a collection?, turn on Open to bundles, then turn on Bulk buy only. If postage is a big share of your asking price, we'll offer it to you at the point you set the price, with your actual numbers.
Two things to know:
- You need at least two bottles listed. With only one, nobody could assemble a bundle and the bottle could never be bought — so the switch stays off until you list another.
- You must save your bundle postage first. Buyers have to see one combined postage before they can ask.
Buyers also win here: bundles carry a saving of 5% on 2 bottles, 10% on 3–5 and 15% on 6–10, plus the one combined postage.
