Local pickup

Live near the buyer? You can hand the bottle over in person and skip postage. The buyer still pays in ScentSell, by card, so you're both protected.

For sellers​

  1. When you list a bottle, turn on Local pickup OK on the Shipping step. Buyers see your suburb (never your address).
  2. When a buyer chooses Pick up, they pay in the app with no postage. You get the same payout as any sale, minus the usual 15% commission.
  3. Arrange a time and a public place in Messages.
  4. Once they have it, tap Handed over on the order. Nothing needs posting or tracking.

For buyers​

  1. On a listing with pickup, choose Pick up under "How would you like it?". The postage comes off the total.
  2. Pay in the app, then arrange the meet-up in Messages.
  3. Once you have the bottle, tap Confirm receipt on your order. If something's wrong, open a dispute from the same place instead.

In-person sales must be paid through ScentSell​

We support in-person sales, but they must go through checkout with Pick up. A cash, bank-transfer or PayID deal happens outside ScentSell: there's no record, no buyer protection, and nothing we can do if it goes wrong. And if sales move outside ScentSell, we can't keep running as a marketplace.

Members who take sales off ScentSell will be removed. If a chat looks like a sale being arranged outside the app, ScentSell posts a reminder in that chat, and we review repeat cases. This is part of our Terms and the Fair Go Rule.
