Setting up payments
Before a bottle of yours can go on sale, we need your bank details. This page explains why, what happens if you skip it, and how long it takes.
What you'll learn
- Why payment setup is required before a listing goes live
- What you see if your listing is approved but payments are not set up
- How to finish it
- What happens the moment you do
Why it is required
When someone buys your bottle, ScentSell pays you directly. There is no holding account and no waiting for us to pass the money on. That only works if there is somewhere to send it.
If you have not finished payment setup:
- Your listing does not appear in the marketplace
- Nobody can find it by searching or filtering
- A purchase would fail at the checkout
So a listing without payment setup is not a quiet listing. It is an invisible one.
You can still list, and we still review it
Nothing stops you creating a listing and sending it to us. We check every listing by hand, at every price, and yours is treated exactly the same.
What changes is the last step. If we approve your bottle and your payment setup is not finished, we tell you so — by email and by notification — instead of putting it on sale where nobody can buy it.
The message says the bottle passed review and is waiting on one thing.
How to finish it
- Go to your Dashboard
- Tap Set up payouts
- Follow the prompts from Stripe, who handle our payments
Stripe will ask for your name, your ABN or personal details for the ATO, and a bank account. For Industry, choose Retail. If they ask for a website, tap Add product description instead.
It takes about two minutes.
We never see or store your bank details. Stripe holds them.
What happens when you finish
Your approved listings go on sale by themselves. There is nothing else to press, and you do not need to resubmit anything or ask us to look again.
If a bottle was approved a month ago and has been waiting, it appears in the marketplace within moments of you completing setup.
If you started but did not finish
Stripe setup can be started and left half done, and it is easy not to realise. Your Dashboard shows you where you are. If it says anything other than set up and ready, there are still steps left.
