Seller ratings

After each completed sale, buyers can leave a 1–5 star rating and optional written review on your seller profile. Ratings are permanent, public, and affect how buyers discover your listings.

How your rating is calculated

Your profile shows a weighted average of all ratings received, rounded to one decimal place (e.g. 4.8 ★). The count of total ratings is shown alongside (e.g. "4.8 ★ — 47 ratings").

New sellers start with no rating displayed until they receive their first rating.

What buyers rate you on

Buyers are rating the whole experience, not just the item. The most common factors:

  • Accuracy — did the item match the description and photos?
  • Communication — did you respond promptly and helpfully?
  • Dispatch speed — how quickly did you ship after payment?
  • Packaging — was the fragrance well-protected in transit?

How ratings affect your listings

AreaEffect
Search rankingHigher-rated sellers may appear higher in search results
Buyer confidenceVisible on every listing page you post
Offer acceptanceBuyers are more likely to make full-price offers to trusted sellers
Dispute outcomesA strong track record is considered in dispute mediation

Responding to ratings

You can leave a public response to any rating on your profile page. Keep responses professional and constructive — dismissive or aggressive responses can deter future buyers more than the original low rating.

Disputing a rating

If you believe a rating is fraudulent, retaliatory, or violates ScentSell's community guidelines, you can flag it for admin review from your profile. Flagged ratings are reviewed within 5 business days. Ratings are only removed if they breach the guidelines — low ratings for genuine poor experiences are not removed.

tip

The fastest way to improve a low rating is to make the next sale excellent. Respond promptly, describe items accurately, pack carefully, and ship quickly.
